KGS ContentServer4Storage enables companies to concentrate on implementing the new SAP generation
S/4HANA has redefined document archiving with a function that enables users to manage unstructured content. Döhler, the world’s leading manufacturer, distributor and provider of technology-based natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and drinks industry, depends on the streamlined SAP archiving solution provided by KGS, in which the archive runs subordinate to the ERP system.
Instead of running several parallel archive systems, Döhler decided to opt for a KGS ContentServer4Storage solution in 2015. The data from the old archives was transferred using a migration software package provided by KGS called Migration4Archivelink. The SAP archive system from KGS transfers the complex structure of the archive to the NetApp archive, ensuring that the data cannot be modified in the process. KGS does not require a database; instead a simple file system without any complex structures is used, which is what distinguishes our solution from conventional archiving solutions. Administrators have regained around 50 percent of their working day thanks to KGS ContentServer4Storage.
Above all, Döhler did not want the archive to affect or be specifically adapted to the company-wide implementation of S/4HANA. Throughout the company’s SAP transformation from SAP ECC, through MaxDB and SAP Suite from HANA to S4/HANA, Döhler were able to fully concentrate on the implementation of S4/HANA and did not have to adapt anything in the archive. Dr Marco Lenck, Head of Group IT at Döhler, had the following to say about the process: ‘The KGS archive system maintains stable and high-performance operation with S4/HANA’.
The food industry specialist is now able to carry out all archiving processes using the ArchiveLink interface, which has now been running consistently for years. In light of upcoming EU basic regulations on data protection, ILM archiving might also be of interest to the company in the future. Knowing that KGS has a certified ILM interface also provides Döhler planning security in this respect.
