Automotive supplier opts for archive solution from KGS and iTernity
Frankfurt/Main, 4 April 2016. Westfalia-Automotive GmbH, leading European and globally successful manufacturer of trailer hitches and bike racks for cars and light utility vehicles, has decided to archive SAP-based documents with a solution combining products from KGS and iTernity.
KGS ContentServer4Storage is a high-performance archive that specifically caters to SAP archiving and document management needs. At Westfalia, it receives documents from the higher-level SAP system and transfers them to iCAS, iTernity’s software for compliant data storage. iCAS manages document retention periods, checks data integrity and stores the documents on standard file systems as protected archive containers. Westfalia relies on a normal Windows file server for document storage.
The initial scope of the archive project at Westfalia involves storing approx. 50,000 incoming invoices each year. Paper-based invoices are digitized and transferred to iCAS via KGS ScanServer. At a later time, the system will also digitize personnel and contractual documents and archive these with the KGS/iTernity solution. There are also tentative plans for moving archived e-mails from the existing e-mail archiving solution to the new system.
The new SAP archiving solution provides Westfalia with a lean, customized archive system that quietly performs precisely the tasks that need to be taken care of for the superordinate SAP system. Document queries are handled exclusively via SAP, which forgoes the need for a separate archive authorization concept as any data access takes place based on SAP authentication. Finally, thanks to the auditing certification of the iTernity solution, Westfalia-Automotive can also phase out their old paper archive.
